Virender Sehwag reiterated here on Sunday that he is playing cricket only because he idol-worshipped Sachin Tendulkar.
The batting maestro from Mumbai is one century away from completing 50 Test centuries and five short of a century of centuries in international cricket (Test cricket and one-day internationals).
Responding to the potential world record feat by Tendulkar in the coming season, Sehwag said: “Only the God of cricket can do that. He is a perfect role model to emulate. If any cricketer most deserves to accomplish such a feat, it's Sachin Tendulkar.
“I am lucky to be playing cricket with him and I would like to say again that I am playing cricket and is here only because of him (Tendulkar).”
Exactly in the tenth year of his career in international cricket, Sehwag signed a five-year multi-crore brand endorsement contract with Professional Management Group (PMG) whose partners are Sunil Gavaskar, Sam Bulsara and Noomi Mehta.
This is PMG's first sports celebrity management deal in 25 years.
