Mirror spoke to Shrikant’s brother Sujit after the match and he admitted that he was nervous when his brother was on the field. Sujit is pursuing an engineering course from JSPM College and on Sunday, he watched the match at his friend’s house.

Shrikant’s father Bhaskar Wagh works as a supervisor in the State Transport department, while his mother Kamal is a housewife. Bhaskar Wagh said, “Fifteen minutes before the game began, we had no clue that he would be part of the playing eleven. But since he ventured on to the field, we were glued to the TV set. After the match was over, we felt like we should have been there to share his happiness with him.”
Shrikant started his cricketing career in Buldhana. Since Class VIII, he started playing for his school Bharat Vidyalaya. Despite having no cricketing background, his parents supported him. He has played for the Vidarbha Ranji team also.
Sujit said, “Dada wanted to be a fast bowler and he even spent some time from 2006-2009 at the MRF Pace Academy where he got some tips from former Australian fast bowler Dennis Lillee. He also met Zaheer Khan and S Sreesanth in the same academy.”
Sujit added, “The turning point in his career came in 2007, when he got a call from Australia to play club cricket there. During that tour, he played lot of T20 cricket along with Australian cricket stars such as Michael Bevan, Simon Katich and others.”
Shrikant got his first big break when he was selected by the Rajasthan Royals to play during the third season of IPL. “He was very excited when he got a call to play for the Rajasthan Royals. He even got a chance to play in the match against Chennai Super Kings where he got Matthew Hayden’s wicket,” Sujit added.
Speaking about Shrikant’s reaction when he was selected for Pune Warriors, Sujit said, “He was very excited to play with Yuvraj Singh and his dream came true in the very first match. Now his next dream is to bowl at Sachin Tendulkar.
Sachin is his role model and he has told me that he will give his 100 per cent if he gets a chance to bowl at him.” Shrikant’s parents have decided to catch his upcoming matches in Mumbai. her is playing.”
