‘Tendulkar too can make mistakes,’ Nathan Hauritz

‘Tendulkar too can make mistakes,’ Nathan Hauritz

Sachin Tendulkar is considered to be the best batsman that the world has ever seen. This man is a class apart from many others in this day and age which is why he is the only player of the current generation to have been considered for the Bradman’s eleven. Popularly known as the ‘Little Master’, Tendulkar is the first player in the history of cricket to score 50 or more centuries in all formats of the game. Sachin now boasts of an incredible 94 centuries in his overall international career including Tests and ODI's.

Before the first test between Australia and India, touring spin bowler Nathan Hauritz has admitted that it would be a tough challenge to bowl against Sachin Tendulkar on Indian pitches. However, he also said that this quality batsman was vulnerable of making mistakes.

"He (Tendulkar) is the world's best batsman, he is unbelievable. I am looking forward to bowling to him, and I know it is going to be a tough challenge. But people make mistakes and Tendulkar too can make mistakes," Hauritz told reporters

Hauritz, the Aussie spin bowler who made his Test debut against India in Mumbai 6 years ago took the prized wicket of Sachin Tendulkar in that match. He will be heading the spin department for Australia during the two Test series starting in India on October 1.

"I would be looking to bowl in the right areas but lot depends on the wicket as it has been raining here. Generally, the wickets don't turn much here after the first two days," said the off-spinner, who is making a comeback from injury.

Hauritz understands the threat emanating from the Indian batting and feels it would be a ‘great challenge’ when bowling to the likes of Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Virender Sehwag and MS Dhoni - all of whom are aggressive players of spin bowling.

He also praised his spin bowling counterpart Harbhajan Singh and rated the Indian spinner as “one of the best in the world”.

India go into the Test series as the number 1 Test side and Hauritz admitted that Australia has never taken any team lightly no matter who the opposition is. Australia was also slowly but surely making a transition and finding their form after the retirement of Shane Warne, Adam Gilchrist, Mathew Hayden and Glen McGrath among many others. Meanwhile Shane Watson has praised Zaheer Khan and Ishant Sharma, stating that his batting counterparts will have to be wary of the pair in the upcoming series. The first Test starts in Mohali on the 1st of October, 2010.
