Geoff Marsh rates Sachin as very high

PUNE (India) – Had the ICC match-referee Chris Broad continued to play for England for a few more years, he would have become the second father-son combination to have played against India’s master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar. Chrish Broad retired in 1989 and his Stuart Broad is now playing for England. Sachin made his Test debut against Pakistan in November, 1989. Australia’s Geoff Marsh and his son Shaun Marsh are the only father and son to have played against Sachin Tendulkar in the batsman’s 21-year glittering career, India’s two noted statisticians, Sudhir Vadiya and Anant Gaundlkar told this scribe. “We rate Sachin Tendulkar very high in our family,” the former Australian right-handed batsman, Geoff Marsh said. “It was a great opportunity to have played with Sachin Tendulkar. He is the magnificent and still “young” player,” the Sr Marsh added. “He is a fantastic and superb man”. “I have interacted with Sachin Tendulkar on number of a times and he is a down-to- the earth man,” he added. Marsh is appointed as the head coach for the team Sahara Pune Warriors which will make its IPL debut in 2011. Geoff Marsh says, “Sachin will retire at the right time and he knows when that right time would come. He is in the great form now and looks as if he is playing with a 4 ft wide bat,” Marsh said. His 27-year-old son, Shaun Marsh is in the Australia’s present ODI squad against India. Marsh’s daughter, Melissa plays basketball for Perth Lynx in the WNBL. His youngest son, Mitchell is a promising young cricketer and is currently captain of the Under-19 Australian cricket team. Mitchell was drafted to the Deccan Chargers for the 2010 Indian Premier League
